CHOPIN 2010 Celebrations office

Why isn’t there a list of all events at the portal?

All the Chopin Year events with a specified date and whose organisers made contact with the Chopin 2010 Celebrations Office may be found in the special Calendar at the portal A simple list of all events planned for the Chopin Year 2010 would be too long to be comprehensible, as the number of different projects and entities involved with their organisation is enormous (on 1st December 2009 there were over 1600 events submitted to the portal). That is why, we had the Calendar devised – it enables everybody to run personalised searches of events by date, place (town, province), category (music, drama, film) or a particular organiser.

I wish to organise a talk on Chopin. Whom should I contact?

The best way is to contact a college of music whose teaching staff might be interested in running sessions on Fryderyk Chopin’s life and work. You will find the colleges’ contact details in our eduBase (hiperłącze). You may also turn for assistance to the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw and the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw.

Can I book and buy tickets at the Chopin 2010 Office?

The Chopin 2010 Celebrations Office does not organise any events – we act as an information hub and coordinator of different Chopin projects. That is why we do not book or sell any tickets. Every time an event is mentioned at its organiser’s contact details are provided as well so that you can call or e-mail them for ticket information.

Where can I get funding for my Chopin events?

In September 2009 Bogdan Zdrojewski, Minister of Culture and National Heritage launched the Fryderyk Chopin 2010 – Promesa Programme. Grant applications were accepted until December 2009. The Programme is limited to individuals or entities subject to Polish law. Soon, also local authorities are going to launch grant programmes for implementing Chopin events. To find out more, please contact the local authorities directly. The contact details are available here.

How do I contact organisers of a Chopin event?

Whenever an event is presented at the portal, it either contains a link to its organiser’s website or relevant contact details. What is more, our artProjects section serves as a pool of proposed projects which may be solicited by schools, third age universities or culture centres. Each of the projects contains a description, technical requirements and its organiser’s contact details.
