Weiss’s Chopin – Young Poland’s Chopin

The exhibition’s starting point is a cycle of drawings by Wojciech Weiss constituting studies for Chopin’s 1899 portrait, which later became the basis for imaging the composer in the art of the Young Poland period.

The exhibition aims to present the drawings in the context of Weiss's other works produced and that time and showcasing the musicality of colour and form. The exhibition will be accompanied with a film etude presenting the history of the Weiss's portrait and other images of Chopin created by the Young Poland artists.
Also available: a bilingual Polish-English catalogue (ca. 120 pages); a portable version of the exhibition to be displayed in non-museum spaces.

Technical requirements
The portable version of the exhibition will feature facsimiles of Wojciech Weiss's studies for the Chopin portrait, complemented by large-format displays of Weiss's so-called "musical" works and a couple of interesting display boards presenting the portrait's artistic and historical background. When displayed at museum venues, the exhibition will feature Wojciech Weiss's original works. The film etude will constitute an important educational element. It will be based on Chopin's imaging in the art of the Young Poland period, will use computer animation and will be fit for screening in all kinds of spaces.
The organiser holds copyright to Wojciech Weiss's works, which opens up the possibility to use them for all kinds of promotion and commercial activities upon prior arrangement. Displaying Wojciech Weiss's original works is also possible.
