Wodiczki Square at the back of the University of Music

Wodiczki Square

The square together with the adjacent park is located on the top of the Warsaw Escarpment between the Chopin Centre, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the University of Music and the Daughters of Charity Monastery. The project prepared on the commission of the City by the RS Architektura Krajobrazu atelier covered reconstruction of the square and revitalisation of the greenery space. Until the present day the City Town Hall has dedicated to the investment over PLN 5.5 million.

The square, from the Okólnik Street up to the Fryderyk Chopin Museum is paved with the granite plates of warm, sand colour, at the same time the strips of the cobblestone dating back to pre-war times remained in place. Trimmed hornbeams are planted on the square and under the trees there are benches with rounded shape designed by Tilman Latz. A series of elements on the square, such as panels and information plaques, litter bins or elements of the road are made of unusual material, that is the stained steel. In the part with trees, over the whole square, large lamps are hanged and several lamp posts are placed. In future, concerts organized by the University of Music will take place here.

The park's part which was severely neglected so far, has been made beautiful. Precious tree stand has been taken care of. New lawns, trees and bushes were planted. The set of alleys was increased and they gained elegant cobbles. New lamp posts and benches, just like the ones on the square, have been placed here. Moreover, the playground for children has been renewed.
